Audi WEC driver Marcel Fässler used the break between two racing commitments at the Nürburgring and in Mexico for a guest performance in his native Switzerland. In the “Bergsprint Walzenhausen” hillclimb sprint race, the three-time Le Mans winner drove an Audi Quattro Group 4 for taxi rides, treating a total of 22 guests to an intensive experience of motorsport feeling
Audi is getting ready for Formula Student Germany (FSG) 2016. This year, the company is participating in the construction competition with five teams of students. In addition, the automobile manufacturer will present the “Audi Vorsprung Award” for the best idea for lightweight construction from young engineering students. 115 teams from 28 countries will compete to produce the best overall concept for self-developed racing cars at the Hockenheimring between August 9 and 14.
Danish motorsport fans were well catered for at the weekend. In the Copenhagen city center, teams and drivers turned out with historic racing cars. Among the crowd Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen and Audi LMP driver André Lotterer. Kristensen and his brother took second place in a Cortina race touring car from the 1960s. André Lotterer also enjoyed the occasion even though another competitor got in his way on the track. In the ‘Race for Riget’, Tom Kristensen posed as taxi driver in an Audi R8 and chauffeured guests around a course and, in doing so, gave his support to a cancer charity initiative.
At this year's Classic Days at Schloss Dyck, Audi Tradition will be presenting three automotive milestones from Audi's motorsports history: the Auto Union Type C (1936), the Audi Sport quattro S1 (1985) and the Audi R8 Le Mans (2000). In two special races on the 6th and 7th of August, racing legends Hans-Joachim Stuck, Walter Röhrl and Frank Biela will take up place behind the wheel of these racing cars. The vehicle fleet from Ingolstadt will also feature the DKW UL 500 and NSU 500 Bullus motorcycles. The classic vehicle festival near to Grevenbroich will take place from the 5th to 7th of August 2016.
Between 21 and 23 July, tens of thousands of fans make the pilgrimage to Daun, the “Mecca” of historical rally sport, to see the legendary cars of the 1980s. Audi Tradition will once again be appearing this year and offering fans of the brand something rather special at the Eifel Rallye Festival: Developed 30 years ago and never raced, the Audi Group S mid-engine rally prototype will take part in a rally event for the first time. What's more, the Audi Sport quattro Rally will be driven by two-time German champion Harald Demuth. The Audi Sport quattro S1, highly regarded in the rally world, completes the Audi Tradition line-up in Daun, Rhineland-Palatinate.
